How to find the full email message headers

Often the ONLY way to troubleshoot message bounces and email troubles is to evaluate the “message headers”. See the directions below on how to view them in various mail programs. Once you have the bounced email headers, you can Copy/Paste the headers into an email to E Street support (support@estreet.com) if you are not clear as to what the problem is.

To copy a message, highlight the entire message (including the headers) and then hit ‘CTRL’ + ‘C’ (for Mac users hit ‘Apple Key’ + ’C’) on your keyboard.

To paste the copied information in the new message, just click your cursor in the message body and then hit ‘CTRL’ + ’V’ (‘Apple Key’ + ‘V’ for Mac).

Outlook on PC 2007/2010/2013

METHOD 1 – You can display full headers by double-clicking on a message so it opens in a separate window (not the preview pane).

– In Outlook 2007 – Click the small arrow icon in lower right in the “Options” group.

– In Outlook 2010/2013/2016 In the “Message” ribbon, Click the small arrow icon in lower right in the “Tags” group.

The Message Options dialog box is displayed. The internet headers are shown in the Internet headers field at the bottom of the dialog box. Copy/Paste them to another message to send them to E Street Support.

METHOD 2 – In any Outlook and you can also just create a new message to support@estreet.com and then select the bounced or message with the error from your inbox and drag it into the new message window. This will add the entire bounced message and it’s header as an attachment, send it to E Street Support
