Security tips for Windows/PC users

Antivirus Software:

The front line in defending your machine, this software enables protection from the old and latest threats in virus software.   You must have this software running in “auto-protect” mode always watching your machine and be sure to run full system scans on a regular interval.

Passwords:

Good passwords and password rotations are vital in the security of a network.  Use secure passwords containing non standard words and alpha-numeric entities.  The more complex and longer the password the better.

Firewalls:

We believe firewalls are “required” equipment for a network – especially a Windows network.  They offer a new level of security but they also create a new level of complexity.  We recommend a good hardware firewall that can be remotely managed. For more information or recommendations on a hardware firewall for your network please contact support@estreet.com.
